Um...where are all of the students today? It's morning, and Jackie (the teacher) is here, but the students have gone missing. Time to send out a search party...
WHERE ARE YOU ALL?

What to Pack in the Gargano
Tommaso, the only one from our group that comes from Puglia in southern Italy, wrote about what he would take to his small town on the Gargano Penninsula in our Meme about What to Pack.
"My city was founded in the medieval period by Federick II. It is situated in northern Puglia in the Gargano National Park."
What to Pack
- a swimsuit: my town has a very beautiful coast.
- some liqueur: Liqueur is necessary because the food is fantastic.
- some walking boots: In the Gargano, the landscape is quite varied. There are many paths in the woods.
- a guitar: In my town, any reason is a good one to celebrate!
- a handkerchief: there is a saying in my town--you need to have a handkerchief with you because the people are so funny that they will make you laugh until you cry!
Thanks for the list, Tommaso!

More Packing: Castiglione
More from our What to Pack Meme: this is a list written by Carmine (the Silent Sleeper) for the town of Castiglione, in the region of Abruzzo, Italy.
Castiglione was founded in the medieval period as a small territory belonging to the nearby town of Penne. Its name derives from Castrum, which means castle.
What to Pack for a trip to Castiglione
• Car Sickness Medicine, because the road is very curvy and the castle is on the peak of a hill.
• a camera, because the view is beautiful
• a lot of books, because there is nothing to do, and there is a lot of silence!
• Digerselz, because the food is very very rich and heavy. We fry everything!
Because there isn't any night life, after two days you will want to leave the city, because there is nothing to do!
Remember to participate in this meme...either with comments or a post on your own blog!

Aren't we cute?
Oops! Another once in a Lifetime!
We almost left this out! This is another addition to the "Once-in-a-Lifetime" Meme that we posted Monday. Alessandra (whose nickname is "Cassandra the scribe") wrote out all of the "once-in-a-lifetime" experiences in her beautiful handwriting, and then we forgot to put HERS on the list. So she gets a special post as a result.
Alessandra's Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience
Everybody should visit Paris at least once. It is a very beautiful city. It is an interesting cultural centre. The food isn't very good, but the museums are fantastic. I'd really like to go back to Paris.

A Night at the Movies
Movies are always a subject worth discussing, and yesterday we shared some of our favorite movies, as well as some movies that we just plain don't like. Also, some movies were liked by certain students and not by others, so we rated them as well. Read our movie reviews:
Borat: thumbs up
A review by Sara
Borat, a reporter from Kazakhstan, goes to America and meets institutional people. They have various customs, and when Borat is with them, they feel embarassed. I like this movie because people who watch it often don't think about their material and superficial lives, while other people are living without anything.
Borat: two thumbs down
A review by Liana
The movie Borat is the story of a reporter from Kazakhstan who goes to New York to write a report about his culture vs. the American culture. From my point of view, it is a disgusting and vulgar film with images that are too strong. I think that it could have been done in another way, for a more general audience--kids included! Some images are funny too, but there are so many other aspects of a country's culture--not just what a man does in the restroom!
Upcoming reviews: Notting Hill, Dancer in the Dark, The Simpsons!

What To Pack: A trip to our Hometowns (a meme!)
Today each student described his or her hometown with a list of things to pack. But, these are not ordinary lists! The stuff we've written here might not fit into your luggage, but it's important to better understand our hometowns. So let's begin with a visit to Macerata, Italy!
Macerata is a medieval hill town in the centre of Italy. It is a well-situated provincial capital halfway between the mountains and the Adriatic sea.
What to Pack: Macerata, Italy
1. some binoculars: These allow you to better watch the fabulous opera at Macerata's Sferisterio, the outdoor opera house. It is the most important attraction of our town. It is a big arena, built in the 19th century. People from all around the world come to watch the operas here, during opera season in the summer.
2. a horse: Macerata has got a Carriage Museum, but there aren't any live horses in the museum. Maybe you should bring your own?
3. some university textbooks: Macerata has got the 3rd oldest university in Italy. If you want to study and you want to get a university degree, you are going to need a textbook. This, not the classes and lectures, is the real way to jump start your career.
4. a bottle of Varnelli: If you want to eat some typical food from the province of Macerata (such as Vincisgrassi and Ciauscolo), you will need some help with digestion (Macerata has some rich food!). Varnelli, the typical digestivo liqueur of the area, is a good bet.
5. A history book: Macerata is a medieval town, and it has a lot of history. Also, nearby the town, there are ruins of the Roman city of Helvia Recina. It's time to open your history book!
6. four keys: These keys will be useful not only to open the four doors of the medieval city (Macerata has four different "gates"), but also to hang out at the popular pub of the same name (Le Quattro Porte!).
7. a volleyball: Last but not least, you will need a volleyball to keep up with the popular (and very good) men's volleyball team, Lube!
Other students wrote about their hometowns as well (we aren't ALL from Macerata!), and we will post those soon. In the meantime, though, considering participating by making a list of your own: What to Pack for a visit to YOUR hometown! We're tagging all of you! That's right--even those without blogs, we'd love it if you would just add some items via the comments section!

Meme: Once-In-A-Lifetime
This Once-In-A-Lifetime Meme was started by some students before us, bloggers from The Surviving Fleas, and we've been tagged! The idea is to make a list of once-in-a-lifetime goals, from riding a gondola down the Grand Canal in Venice, to being Chuck Berry's bodyguard! Here's what we our "Once-in-a-lifetime" Wishes are (each student was allowed one wish):
Lost In English's Once In A Lifetime Experiences
• Liana: Deep Sea Diving
"I think that everybody should go deep sea diving because you feel like you are in another world in a million colours of fish, and peace."
• Riccardo: Year in America
"I would like to live at least a year in America. There, there are some of my favourite bands. There are also the greatest and strangest situations, things, places, and people. It is a big and beautiful land."
• Matteo: Live like a Hippy
"I think that everyone must live like a hippy. This is because we are used to living with everything--meat at the supermarket, daily showers, a cup of coffee at the bar. But hippies who live in communities in the mountains are without light, without a real house, without a comfortable bed. Volunteering is another good idea. I think people should try living like this for one month."
• Simone: Visit Venice, Italy
"I think the most important thing is to visit Venice because it is a historic city, and it is also very romantic for lovers. It also has got a beautiful carnival."
• Andrea: A Month at a Spa
"As I often meet stressed-out people, I think that everyone should spend at least one month of his/her life in a spa in the mountains of Switzerland."
• Tommaso: Eat Andrea's Mother's Lasagna
"Everyone should eat Andrea's (above) mother's lasagna. I think that if your day was horrible, with lasagna you can change your bad day into a good one. That is why it has been suggested by the best psychologists. Unfortunately, I haven't eaten it yet."
• Mario: Travel
"I think that everyone has to visit other countries because this is a beautiful experience. I have travelelled often and I hope to continue in the future. My favourite trip was to Prague."
• Carmine: Live Abroad
"I think that this is a very unique experience, and I think that everybody should do this experience because the world is beautiful and it's very good to know different cultures."
• Marco: Live in Isolation
"We must go to a place where it is possible to live without things and people, and there is only silence. We can fill up our empty brains. Don't you think so? You can should and run without clothing, as well. I think one month is enough!"
What about YOU? What are your top 10 once-in-a-lifetime wishes? We'd love to know, so we're TAGGING ALL BLOGS! Write your Top once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and let us know what they are! If you haven't got a blog, add a couple experiences in our comment section. Can't wait to hear from you!
